Transformative in scope, the riverside development established a vibrant pedestrianised leisure hub incorporating a Vue cinema, Premier Inn hotel, and major restaurant chains alongside a high-specification residential quarter over St Mary’s Gardens. Our building services team navigated complex multi-stakeholder requirements, coordinating closely with developers, housing associations, and commercial tenants to align disparate briefs into a cohesive MEP strategy.
To serve the contrasting needs of the residential apartments, commercial leisure venues, and public real-estate, Bedwell MEP engineered flexible and sustainable building infrastructure. The mechanical and electrical scope featured high-efficiency LPHW heating with gas-fired condensing boilers, mixed-mode ventilation, and roof-mounted photovoltaic (PV) arrays to reduce carbon footprints. We also designed comprehensive public health plumbing, sitewide utilities, landscape lighting, and robust security, fire, and access control systems. The resulting development provides Bedford with an energy-efficient, multi-purpose riverfront destination, showcasing our expertise in complex commercial and residential urban regeneration projects.
